TVS Gears Up for Premium Motorcycle Expansion with 450cc Apache and Norton Models
TVS Motor Company is preparing to shake up the mid-capacity segment with an all-new range of 450cc motorcycles. The lineup will include Apache-branded bikes as well as models from the iconic UK-based Norton Motorcycles, both powered by BMW’s newly developed 450cc engine platform.
This platform made its debut with the BMW F450 GS, which is expected to launch globally later this year. All the new TVS and Norton 450cc motorcycles will be manufactured at the company’s Hosur facility, aligning with the brand’s focus on in-house production and platform sharing.
Strategic Alliance: TVS, BMW & Norton on the Same Platform
Sudarshan Venu, MD of TVS Motor Company, confirmed that the collaboration will leverage shared technology and engineering synergies across all three brands — TVS, BMW Motorrad, and Norton. This cross-brand strategy aims to speed up product development and expand TVS’s footprint in the premium bike market.
Apache RTX 300 Also Incoming
In addition to the 450cc project, TVS is preparing to launch the Apache RTX 300, which will be built on a fresh platform. Future iterations of this platform may include a SuperMoto variant expected to arrive next year, targeting enthusiasts looking for performance and agility.
Norton’s India Strategy – A Bold Move?
While the Apache brand has a loyal following in India, Norton remains a niche name with limited recall. How TVS plans to establish Norton’s premium identity in the Indian market could play a key role in its long-term strategy.
With this expansion, TVS is clearly eyeing a larger slice of the premium motorcycle segment, both in domestic and global markets.
